Edible School Gardens for Hands on Learning

Under the guidance of CACN, students from local lower and middle schools will grow their own edible gardens and harvest fresh organic produce from it. Our goals are to educate children on where their food comes from and get them involved in the process from the ground, to harvest and preparation to the dinner table. We want to get children outdoors and “hands on” planting edible gardens as well as teaching them the skills to harvest, prepare and cook the foods they have grown.

Chefs in Schools

Create A Change Now will bring their Chef partners into schools to help educate kids and their families about food and nutrition and invite children to cook the food they’ve grown and show them how to make it taste good. Chefs are great mentors to children and can have a tremendous impact on them. Our program encourages children to dig in the dirt, taste delicious fresh foods, and learn to make eating choices that will have lifelong health benefits and in turn promote better health within our communities. CACN will inspire both children and families to make common-sense change in their diets – without sacrificing the flavor.

Nutrition Lessons

Create A Change Now will enhance classroom curriculum of nutrition education that helps students to adopt and maintain healthy eating habits while also helping them understand how their food choices affect their health, weight and overall well-being.
